BEAUTIFUL LENGTHS LAUNCHES NATIONAL DONATE YOUR HAIR WEEK

This is such a worthy cause....unfortunately I'm not a good candidate, but I thought I'd share this in case you are, or you know someone who is and would be willing to share their locks for a woman undergoing cancer treatment.

Hair donation event in Sydney CBD on Monday 12th  November 2012

Monday 12th  November will mark the launch of the inaugural Beautiful Lengths National Donate Your Hair Week in Australia kicking off with a hair donation event at Martin Place in Sydney CBD with Pantene ambassadors Barney Martin and Zoe Foster.

Beautiful Lengths is the first program of its kind in Australia to inspire women to grow, cut and donate their hair to be turned into real-hair wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment.

Alongside its charity partner Look Good...Feel Better, Pantene will be offering free haircuts with leading hairstylist and Beautiful Lengths ambassador, Barney Martin, and his team of expert hairdressers to the first 100 women who donate their hair.

Barney’s fellow Pantene ambassador, beauty expert, Zoe Foster, will be on hand to offer advice to the women donating their hair on styles and treatments.

A gift bag packed full of haircare products will be presented to every woman who makes the kindest cut and pledges her ponytail, and all donors will be in with a chance to meet Beautiful Lengths ambassador, Naomi Watts, when she arrives in Sydney on 15th November.

In order to participate, hair donors must be able to travel to Martin Place for 8am on 12th November and have at least 20cm of hair to donate.

To take part, please visit https://rougemag.com.au/pantenendyhw and complete the registration form.

Hair must also be less than 5% grey, and free from chemical treatments, hair extensions and permanent dye. A detailed list of donation requirements can be found at www.beautifullengths.com.au

Barney comments: “Some of my clients are currently undergoing cancer treatments and I have styled their wig for them. I have seen the effect losing hair has on a woman and it can be heartbreaking to watch them go through that.
20cm of hair may seem like a lot to cut off, but this summer short sleek styles are in and I can’t think of a better reason to update your look.

Beautiful Lengths is a way to help women with cancer feel like themselves again and it’s such a simple way to help – just pledge your ponytail!”

Anyone who wishes to donate their hair but cannot get to Sydney for the event on 12th November can find out how to hold their own donation party by downloading a party host pack from the Beautiful Lengths website.

Hair Pack Giveaway

Hi there, how was your weekend?  Mine was relatively non-eventful, just the way I like it.

The 2 older pickles went back to school this morning after 2 weeks of (full on) school holidays. We did a lot of "stuff" and I AM TIRED!!!
Nobody told me having 3 kids would be so exhausting, they get up in the morning and hit the ground running and they don't stop until forced to go to bed.

Don't get me started on how much food they consume....machines, they are...I tells ya!!

Is it like that at your house?

So, I'm not sure where to start this morning & after sticking something in the slow cooker and the washing machine, I've decide to sit on the sofa, not look at any mess, have a coffee and tell you about a little giveaway I'm having today.

It's all about hair...again.

You know how much I love hair products.

Do you love them too?

 It's fun being a girl.
Yep, I'm a girly girl whenever I can get the chance.
Because it's all males in this house I've missed out on the playing make-up, dress up and girly tea parties. So it's DIY. lol

By the way, here's my latest "do"...I've gone a little lighter and had the layers thinned out a bit more. Because it's very thick, if I let it go too long between cuts, it goes all witchypoo.

What do you think?

How about you? Are you planning a change in hairstyle or colour for the Spring/Summer months?

If so, this giveaway will be right up you alley.

With summer just around the corner, the warmer months often call for a change. Body blitzing, health kicks and hair overhauls are all part of summer prepping, and sometimes knowing what to focus on most can be overwhelming. Nice’n Easy and Wella Pro Series are here to make summer prep easy, with their summer style pack.

I'm giving 3 readers hair a fresh summer start with a Nice’n Easy and Wella Pro Series summer style giveaway. Each pack will contain one Nice’n Easy hair colour in a shade of choice, and a Wella Pro Series Colour shampoo and conditioner.

Nice’n Easy:
Anti-flat colour is all about hair that sparkles in the sun and looks alive with energy and personality. Nice’n Easy shades work hard to deliver natural looking colour in the comfort of your own home. Each shade has the right level of dimension to ensure 100 per cent grey coverage, without making the colour look flat.

Wella Pro Series Colour collection:
71% of women colour their hair, and therefore requires special treatment since colouring makes it more vulnerable. Preserve the vibrant, healthy look of hair shades with Wella Pro Series Colour which intensively nourishes, protects against breakage from combing and styling and leaves coloured hair soft and shiny.

How to enter: (Aussies only sorry)

1. You need to follow 3pickles on at least one of the following:
2. In the comments, here on the blog, tell me, who is your celebrity hair "idol" and why.

Entries close Friday, October 12th, 2012 at midnight (Melbourne time)

The 3 winners will be announced here on the blog, this Saturday, October 13th, 2012.

Good luck.

Blonde Ambition

G'day...it's me again. How's this cold weather treating you? If you're in my part of the world, you're probably freezing your assets off at the moment......I just can't keep warm...I'm a freak.
And to my lovely friends and family on the other side of the world...half you're luck...wish I was there. I get beautiful pictures from Santa Monica on a daily basis and I am green with envy....

But today I don't want to talk about green, I want to share with you my thoughts on being a blonde......no blonde jokes please, I've heard them ALL!

I've been blonde all of my life, except a few times that I experimented with colour. I was brunette and auburn for a while (no ranga jokes either!!), but they never really suited me...sometimes you've just gotta go with what you've got. These days though, some enhancement is required....lol

As you may know from several posts here and here on this blog and on my Facebook page, that I am a HUGE John Freida fan, a lot of you must be too...it's my second most popular post(s) apart from Nude Make-Up ...could you imagine if I did a post called Nude Blonde ...lol...erm, yup, that's a whole different kinda blog.

Anyway, I now have some more lovely JF products to tell you about...especially if you're a blonde like myself.....or if you know a blonde ;)

The John Freida Sheer Blonde Enhancing Shampoo & Conditioner is my favourite. It smells DIVINE...white tea...mmmmmm
They say you can see a contrast in 1 use and I think they're spot-on. My hair is really shiny after using this too. It contains highlight optimisers to smooth and mend the porous areas of each strand. It restores hair’s healthy texture so light can shine though while sunflower and white tea complex brings out glistening highlights
for a maximum blonde impact. Sounds good to me.....

One of the most annoying things for me is the lighter blonde tones in my hair can occasionally look a bit brassy and I hate that...
.........so to the rescue comes the John Freida Sheer Blonde Colour Renew tone correcting shampoo & conditioner.
It renews colour by reversing the look of damage and helps protect blonde from fading. The formula contains UV Filter, lavender and Optical Brightener that protects salon fresh blonde for longer and instantly reverses brassiness and damage from colouring. It deeply moisturises without weighing down the hair. Formulated with Optical Brightener and lavender technology, it converts UV rays to a white-blue light, making colour-treated hair appear lighter and
brighter. Love this too...it also smells delish..

If you want to keep that summery blonde a little longer between hairdresser visits, you might want to pick up some of this, it's the John Frieda SHEER BLONDE® Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray. It  has a breakthrough formula that gradually lightens and brightens blonde tones. The point and spray formula gives you complete control letting you choose where you want to lighten up and how much you want to lighten. The spray is enriched with citrus and chamomile and works in combination with heat to effectively lighten blonde hair, brighten highlights and blend roots. Hydrogen peroxide provides enhanced lightening benefits for more dramatic blonde effects and a light polymer ensures the spray spreads evenly to control lightening effects. Ideal for blending roots between salon visits or achieving the shade you desire, the formula works to effectively enhance the lightening benefits of the Sheer Blonde® Shampoo and Conditioner. I've put the video from John Freida's youtube channel here at the end of this post so you can see how it works...I've tried it too and it really brings out the blonde. Such a handy item just before you blow dry your hair.

Yup, me as a pickle.

And now...
see, I told you I was shy.........

I had a few reddish foils put through recently...just for a change. What do you think? Keep it or lose it?
I can never make up my mind...
I have hair commitment issues.......................

How about you?

Do you change you hair on a regular basis?

or is it just me?
